St. Louis Science Center

Making its grand debut in 1963, the Science Center began as only a planetarium! Then in 1991, it underwent major expansion into what it is today. Kids and Adults of all ages have been enchanted by the amazing world of science 🧬 at the Science Center ever since. With retellings of the past with historical accuracy and artifacts, shows of all intrigue can be found here daily. Currently, you can find star shows and viewings along with movies for simply relaxing. Weekly yoga series can also be enjoyed for the mind, body, and spirit. Thursday, August 7th

• Blues Traveler / Gin Blossoms with Spin Doctor at Chesterfield Amphitheater: Hey jealousy! You might be jealous if you miss out on this show with a trio that made the 90s radio 📻 some of the best times for music! Concert starts at 6pm.

• Fella & Dame: An Ode to Mid-Century Comedy at Gaslight Square @ Missouri History Museum: This thought provoking play is set in the 50s-60s and will be a part of a weekly series by Washington University. The event will also have live music, food & drinks, and historical resources, activities! Event goes from 5-8pm 🎭

• Odditeas Cafe Presents Mortaliteas @ Odditeas | A Death Cafe: Gather round for scrumptious tea, cakes, and conversations around the topic of “death!” A meaningful evening where all morbid curiosities are welcome & invited! Event starts at 6:30pm 🍽 🫖 🪦 

• Complimentary Wine Sampling at Sappington: Drink wine and be merry at this walk-in friendly event with complimentary samples of wine from regions of all over the world 🌎 - Event runs from 6-7:30pm 🍷 

• Blues at the Arch: Thanks to one of our readers, we found out about this special event happening at the Arch! Celebrate the 10th Anniversary of The Blues Museum where Jeremiah Johnson and more will be performing. Event is 7-9pm🎷🎺🎼

• Salsa and Sunsets at Angad Hotel: Grab a margarita and salsa dance to radiating views of St. Louis at the trendy Angad Arts Hotel. Every Thursday, event is 7-11pm 🌆 💃 

Friday, August 8th

• Opening Night La Cage aux Folles at The Muny: Come see the thought provoking play that inspired “The Birdcage” at the Muny this Friday! This play centers around family themes of love, acceptance, and following your heart 💖! Show starts at 8pm

• 10th Annual Tennessee Williams Festival at The Grandel and Central West End: Prepare for a time of passionate exuberance with this celebration of Tennessee Williams where you will see a performance of the classic “Streetcar Named Desire,” “Stella!” shouting contests, scholarly discussions, and an epic pool party! 🚗❤️‍🔥

• Pompeii: the Exhibition at the Science Center: Take a step back in time and live momentarily in an ancient civilization. See the frozen history brought back to life in this legendary exhibit, back by popular demand! $29 entry during the times of 9:45am-3:30pm 🌋 

• Summer Jams at Eckerts Farm: Stop by the Cider 🍺 Shed at Eckerts for a mouthwatering dinner while listening to Chuck Mead & The Stalwarts! Jams go on from 6-9pm 🍇 🎶 

• Tree One Four at Broadway Oyster Bar: Lavish in an evening of chilled beverages to beat the heat, up-beat music, and spicy food - $12 cover! Starts at 9pm 🎶 🍻 

• 4th Annual Summer Block Party at Fox Park: This family fun event will be packed with all your summer festivities - bounce house, bubble 🫧 bus 🚌, face paint 🎨, and balloon 🎈art! Goes from 4-7pm 🎉 

Saturday, August 9th

• Austen’s Pride at the Kirkwood Performing Arts Center: Fall in love all over again for the classic “Pride and Prejudice” - like never before! Book your tickets and prepare to be whisked away. Starts at 2pm 💐 

• Summer Fest at 9 Mile Garden: Don’t forget your swimsuit for this big summer blowout featuring food trucks, water slides, and live music - begins at 11am 💦 

• Washington Town & Country Fair in Washington: Come out the last days of summer for a carnival event in Washington and enjoy live entertainment, all the fine fare foods, games, and so much more! Fair goes for 5 days from 7am-12am 🥧. Fireworks 🎆 display on final day!

• Missouri State Fair in Sedalia: See who takes home the blue ribbon this year at the state fair! With chart topping musical performers, carnival rides, and so much more! Event goes for 11 days (August 7th-17th) from 7:30am-10pm 🎡 

• Evening Wolf Howl at the Endangered Wolf 🐺 Center: Spend a majestic evening around a campfire, learning about native wolves - then have a howling good time communicating with the wolves located at the center! Reserve those tickets! This event goes from 6:30-8:30pm 🌌 🔥🌲 

• Live Horseracing at Fairmount Park, Illinois: Make it a day at the racetrack and watch the professionals race their noble steeds to the finish line 🏁! Event starts at 1:30pm 🐎

• Wow! Amazing Animal Shows at the World Bird Sanctuary: Take 30 minutes to be one with nature - or birds in this case! The World Bird Sanctuary will showcase a new bird at each event. Be prepared for birds swooping overhead and listen to their distinct calls! Starts at 1pm 🦅 

• Solar Sundays at the McDonald Planetarium: Learn and have a view like never before of the sun ☀️ with this free chance to experience telescopes! Viewing goes from 11am-3pm 🔭 

• All Aboard the Wabash Frisco and Pacific Railroad: Folks of all ages will have a serene time sightseeing the Meramec River, but from the perspective on a train! Tickets 🎟 sellout fast, so be sure to reserve in advance. Goes from 11am-4pm 🚂 

• St. Charles Jewish Festival a the Lewis & Clark Boathouse: Have an enriching cultural experience at this festival with kids activities and historical lessons. Enjoy some tasty kosher treats while you’re at it! Event goes from 11:30am-2:30pm 🥖🍲🥔

• Kirkwood Farmers’ Market in Downtown Kirkwood: Have a scenic Sunday in historic Kirkwood while the weather is nice and get your weekly shopping done! Kirkwood Farmers’ Market offers seasonal items such as produce, baked goods, and more all year round! Special events can also be found during holiday seasons. Goes from 10am-5pm 👩‍🌾
