In the 1890s and early 1900s, the Central West End was where the city’s millionaire class built exclusive private streets just blocks from public streetcar lines and bustling commercial districts. Drawing on sources such as Tennessee William’s memoirs and Malcom X’s FBI files, this tour explores the architectural, literary, and social heritage of one of the city’s liveliest districts.
