Negentropic Landscape

The St. Louis Artists’ Guild presents Negentropic Landscape By Leslie Song July 31 - August 29!

"Negentropic Landscape" is a series of mixed media works that is inspired by concepts found in entropy and negentropy, using them as guides to explore movement, balance, and order. Song oscillates between meticulous planning and intuitive placement in each piece which allows for unpredictability in the final form, echoing the natural tendency of entropy to bring a measure of disorder in the process.

In her practice, she has largely been working with the Korean color system, obangsaek, as an additional layer to explore balance throughout this series. The five colors of obangsaek – blue, red, yellow, white, and black – are rooted in yin/yang philosophy as well as a symbolic representation of harmony and balance. Each piece reflects her journey for balance and invites the viewer to explore their relationship with order and disorder in their lives.
