Member Speaker Series: Planting Fall Bulbs in Perennial Gardens
Doors open at 10:30 a.m. | Presentation at 11 a.m.
Planting bulbs in fall is one of the easiest ways to add spring color to any garden. But too often, they appear as big blocks of color that bloom briefly in public spaces or are tucked into home gardens as an afterthought. How can we incorporate these lovely flowers into a more coherent garden design to avoid both extremes? Taking into account the different maintenance needs for varying types of bulbs, Lizzy Rickard and Kathie Hoyer of Bowood Farms will offer a more sustainable approach to fall-planted bulbs. They will show us how to plant bulbs that will blend well with selected perennial plants and help form a seamless transition from the starkness of winter to the lushness of summer.
